● Congratulations!!! We have a new space for our museum!! I just signed the contract two weeks ago with Mr. Enrique (Henry) Venezuela for the site of our new Museum at 1149 West Frontage Road, Suite #3. The rent for the one unit is $500 per month starting February 1, 2023, with free rent for January 2023, and only a $100 deposit. We are expecting to have the adjacent unit #4 in a couple of months, for an additional $500 per month. I want to thank everyone for their help looking for a new museum site. The Museum Committee already held two meetings and started planning the museum set up. If you want to help, please let us know. We set a goal of tentative opening as of March 1, 2023.
● We held a very successful Fundraising Event, our Annual Rummage Sale on Saturday November 19, 2022. A huge thank you to all for their hard work planning the event, and working the sale on the day before, the day of, and the day after for clean-up, especially to Victor Cazares for heading the Rummage Sale Committee.
● We had a very good booth presence at the La Fiesta de Tumacácori on December 3, 2022, at the Tumacácori National Park. Thank you to all volunteers who set up the booth with displays, and manned the booth promoting our society.
● We were thrilled to receive the White Elephant Grant this year in the amount of $5,000. That will really help towards achieving our society’s goals. Thank you to all Grant Committee members who helped writing and submitting the grant, and to Veronica, Steve, and Olivia who accompanied me at the Awards Ceremony on December 8, 2022. I would like to especially thank Olivia, who created a beautiful holiday wreath with our society’s logo, which we presented to the White Elephant Committee as our gift.
● We held our Annual Holiday Party on Tuesday December 13, 2022. Twenty five members attended. We had a great time, with plenty of delicious food and desserts, raffles, and camaraderie. Thank you all for coming and sharing the goodies! We want also to thank the Rio Rico Medical & Fire District Training for hosting us at their facility.
● The new Welcome Committee with VP Chris Novak as the Committee Chair has been giving a Welcome Letter, Certificate of Membership, and Membership Cards to all new members of our society to feel welcomed and included. Also a Calendar of Events was created. Thanks to all committee members for their hard work.
● We are still looking for someone to pick up the Newsletter as Editor. I am very thankful for Janice Ranck’s help, who created a new email service for the society and sends out the Newsletter to all members. Please make sure you check your email, including your Spam Folder.
